Went to a local gun show today...
It was my first time going to a gun show. It was at the Kane County Fairgrounds. I went with a buddy from work. It was about what I had expected. TONS of people were there as soon as the doors were open. I went with a list of items I was looking for, including prices that could be found online.
There were some pretty good deals and some BOHICA "deals" as well. My best purchase of the day was a CMMG .22 lr conversion kit for my AR15. I found it at the first table I looked at and the price was only $175, which included a 27rd mag. It was the only one the dealer had. The only other one I saw at the entire show was for an old, used one (not even sure what brand), and the guy was asking $230 for it! The same table where I found my conversion kit also had a few Chip McCormick drop-in triggers for only $220. I was tempted, but only had about $400 on me. I'm not in a hurry for a new trigger anyway. They were sold out of their AR15 tactical charging handles. That was the other main thing I wanted. Some vendors had decent prices on 5.56 nato. But the worst price I found was for 1k rounds of Privi 62 grain steel core for $600! Most other vendors had it way cheaper. I still have about 2k rounds at the house here, so I took a pass on the 5.56. I did, however, buy one bag of 100 .223 tracer rounds for $40. Just for a little flavor at the range. I also grabbed another 30rd mag for $19. My last purchase as I was walking out the door was two 500 round boxes of Centurion .22 lr ammo for about $20 each. I also fell in love with a Walther P22. The guy was asking about $320 for it. Still, I bought enough today to do some serious .22 plinking for now. But I'm seriously thinking about one for my next gun purchase. Overall it was a decent show. If you had a keen eye and looked up prices on items you wanted ahead of time, there were some deals to be had. Plenty of ARs (uppers, lowers, and whole), AKs and mags. Lots of ammo. Some over priced, but most was on par with what you can find online. No .50 Beowulf ammo though :bawling:. Anyway, I just thought I'd share. It was a great way to finish my weekend and I walked away happy. :565: |

Thanks for the update! :applause_
Do you remember how much AKs and 7.62x39 ammo were going for? |

Let us know how that CMMG conversion works out...I've been eyeballing one for my AR too.

Re: Went to a local gun show today...
Went to a gun show this weekend and venders are starting to break down green tip .223 into quart plastic bags! I picked up 3k of CCI small rifle primers for $90. 1k Winchester LR primers for $34. 1k each of 9mm and 40 S+W once fired brass for $30 ea. All of these items are basically impossile to find online,OUT OF STOCK.
Also got a 20" SS upper with aluminum FF tube for $480 from . They had NO BCGs or charging handles left. I now have all my lowers covered with parts for builds. Also found a guy who had some nice 20 mm ammo cans for $25. I got 2. I should have gone back at end of show and offered him $20 each for a couple more....I forgot darn it! I think he would have bit. The shipping on those is a killer for me and nobody has them up here. All in all a good day for me....got things I NEEDED!! :emotions16:One thing I did notice is people are starting to slow down a bit on big ticket items. |
